The World in the 25 Years after 1989
This art project, completed in 2016, is a series of some 41 artworks (16 woodcut prints, 23 brush-and-ink paintings, and two pieces in other media) depicting some new developments in the world after the 1989 pro-democracy movement in Mainland China. It covers a time span of 25 years, from 1989 to 2014. Of course, a lot happened during this period, and the artist could only present a few in this painting and woodcut project, giving greater emphasis on China and Hong Kong.
In 2013, the first 9 woodcut prints of this series were shown in a small-scale exhibition in Fong & Yeung Studio’s temporary showroom. Then in 2015, a number of paintings and woodcuts of this series were selected for the overseas exhibition, “NYCLondonHK: a Three-city Trilogy”, held in London and New York. The artist is now looking for a venue and funding to exhibit the whole series.
(Some images of artworks will added later as they are not yet ready.)
